The Wave
This term we will read two books and watch a film, trying to answer the guiding questions: why do people blindly follow leaders an can one person stand up to those people. To start we will read "The Wave" and explore why good people support bad ideas. Next we will read Maus, & The Search, graphic novels about Nazi Germany to continue our exploration of the topic. Every week in September you will have a role or job to do about the book The Wave dud on the Sunday night digitally on Google Classroom or Monday morning if hand written. Each job is worth 10% of your term mark for reading. We will also do an in-class response to the topic when we are finished the unit worth the rest of your reading grade. For Production you will write a short story on the themes we bring up and then you will write an article. Each are worth 50% of the term's production grade. Talk grade is based on classroom participation and talking to learn when you work in groups. Click on the link to the left to view a discussion of literature circles and your roles |
